Welcome to Beauty of Rwanda.

Beauty of Rwanda is a not-for-profit jewellery and home décor company founded on the principle of economic empowerment to women of Rwanda.

Rwanda is one of the poorest countries in Africa, particularly following the devastating genocide of 1994, in which 1 million lives were lost. The social and economic effects of the genocide rippled through the nation and still have an impact in the present day. Households affected by HIV/AIDS are at risk of falling into poverty and close to 14% of rural dwellers live in conditions of extreme poverty.

The vision of the company is to sell one of a kind, handcrafted products made by women survivors of the 1994 genocide and to teach the women key skills that will enable them to increase their income, and to gain respect of their neighbours, while taking positions of responsibility in their communities. Our main objective is to empower rural women, and evolve alternative strategies of education that will enable them to participate as equal citizens in the political, economical and social sustainable development of themselves, their families and their communities.

We value female empowerment for our weavers, providing them with a sustainable income. Each of our handmade products are of high quality and environmentally friendly. Through our #OneBasket campaign, the organisation makes a real difference to the lives of the women and their families.

Overall, the sale of beautiful, handmade goods plays an important role in Rwanda's transition.
